Spatial Reasoning and Visualization for Girls Only
Spatial Reasoning — Incorporating the world of the Kalmar Nyckel (navigation, knot tying, building ships, engineering) to get exposure as to how all these ideas can work in the real world. Back at the school we will be using legos, building blocks/architectural model building and 3D software to develop the ability to see three dimensional objects and rotate them in your mind. This ability is important for generating and conceptualizing solutions to multi-step problems that arise in areas such as architecture, engineering, science, mathematics, art, games, and everyday life. It is often underdeveloped in girls and causes many of them to choose not to go into engineering and chemistry. This class will help to recognize that it is something that can be achieved with training.
