Theatre isn’t always flowers and puppy dogs. Sometimes, the only way to get what you want is to fight for it. This class is an introduction into stage combat and stage violence. The class will cover a beginner’s look at two of the eight Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD) acknowledged fight disciplines, unarmed and knife combat. This class is designed to teach actors objectivity and how to use the basic techniques of stage violence and combat to tell an interesting and compelling story while putting on a stunning visual performance. It will also make actors think of and use their bodies in new and exciting ways. This will be a VERY intense physical class and students should be in good health, have a strong eye for detail, a high level of patience, and want to push their performance repertoire to a new level.
