A Day in the Life of Cab: Voice

Instructor: Mr. David Allen - A 2011 graduate of the Cab Calloway School of the Arts in Stage Technology. Along with over five years of experience working technical theatre both in community theaters, and professionally, he also holds positions as a sound and recording engineer. As a musician, David has been studying both privately and independently for over 10 years, ranging in instruments of study from piano, to alto saxophone, to voice. Along with extensive musical theatre and vocal jazz experience, David has performed solo and in groups across Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New York. Currently David is working on his Bachelor in Music for Sound Recording Technology at Ithaca College located in Ithaca, New York.

Wonder what It is like to be a voice major at Cab? In this week in the life of a voice

student, we will be working on basic vocal technique, sol fege, and beginner’s music

theory preparing you to hold your own in a choir or as a solo singer. As well as gaining a

music theory basis, the week will culminate with a performance of solo/choral

arrangements of Beatle’s songs learned through the week.
