Sailing into Marine Art
For centuries artists, mystified by the sea, have captured the visual effects of wind, drama of the waves and those who try to navigate it. After studying works of art by such regional artists Howard Pyle, N.C. Wyeth, and Julian O. Davidson, we will draw and learn about ships first-hand at a visit to the Kalmar Nyckel, the Tall Ship of Delaware! Using the Elements of Art and Principles of Design we will explore marine art with watercolor, mono-prints, tempera paint and collage.
