Seussical JR.

Categories: Dance, Elementary School Kids, Middle School Kids, Theatre, Week 6 (7/23-7/27), Week 7 (7/30-8/3)

The story centers around Horton the Elephant, who finds himself faced with a double challenge–not only must he protect his tiny friend  Jojo (and all the invisible Whos) from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him, the only one who recognizes “his kind and his powerful heart.” Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant, in a story that makes you laugh and cry.

The amazing odyssey of SEUSSICAL is in itself a remarkable reflection of many of the lessons Dr. Seuss himself intended to impart–don’t ever give up, use your imagination, your journey can take you to unexpected places, and that rewards can indeed be great when your are “faithful, one hundred percent.”

Bambi Johnson has been dancing since the age of two, and has been privileged to perform with Back Alley Dancers, Maryland Ballet, Colin Dunne’s Riverdance and the touring production of Fosse to name a few. She was an NFL cheerleader & dancer, and on the production staff for the NFL Pro Bowl halftime show. Currently, Bambi’s choreography can be seen in many of Maryland’s high schools and community theaters, including Cockpit in Court, Phoenix Festival Theater, DCT & Milburn Stone Theatre, as well as competitive dance teams across the country.  Featured several times in the popular American Cheerleader and Dance Spirit magazines, Bambi is also listed in the national “Who’s Who Among American Dance Directors.”  Recently awarded Broadway World’s 2011 Best Choreography Award for her work on Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, she is extremely delighted to be working with Cab Summer Camps this year!
