Studio Knowledge for the Musician

Instructor: Mr David Allen - A 2011 graduate of the Cab Calloway School of the Arts in Stage Technology. Along with over five years of experience working technical theatre both in community theaters, and professionally, he also holds positions as a sound and recording engineer. As a musician, David has been studying both privately and independently for over 10 years, ranging in instruments of study from piano, to alto saxophone, to voice. Along with extensive musical theatre and vocal jazz experience, David has performed solo and in groups across Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New York. Currently David is working on his Bachelor in Music for Sound Recording Technology at Ithaca College located in Ithaca, New York.

For the aspiring musician hoping to learn more about recording and how it

applies specifically to music. We will learn how to use studio grade equipment as well

as addressing specific scenarios helping you to get the best sound out of a limited

recording space(Such as home recording!). We will learn about acoustics, basic sound

theory, and studio techniques as well as get hands on experience with quality

microphones, interfaces, midi controllers, and other equipment.
