Who is Your Hero?

- Instructor: Mrs. Valerie Kauffman has been an Art Educator for 18 years with the Caesar Rodney and the Capital School District. She currently teaches at William Henry Middle School in Dover, Delaware. Her education in Art has taken her as far as Wales, England, France, and Ireland. One of her favorite places in the world is Claude Monet's garden in Giverney, France. Innovation and creativity are encouraged in all of her classes as she provides programs that expose her students to many opportunities in medium and genre. She is a member of the Delaware Art Education Association and the National Art Education Association and is certified in Visual Art K-12.
Who is your hero? Let’s go back in time to the 16th century when battles were fought by knights and kings. You will be telling your hero’s story on your own hero shield. You will explore the drawing techniques of Albrecht Durer and other Renaissance innovators. Ever been to a ball? Create your own ball mask. And, research your family name in order to design a family crest.
