In this camp, participants will become dancing scientists! Learners will discover not only some cool moves, but they will also investigate how to dance in a safe and injury-preventative manner. This dance session incorporates science and discovery through kinesiology and an introduction to the bones and muscles in the body. While learning how to move safely, we will also touch upon healthy lifestyles involving nutrition, activity, and sleep. The science of dance will extend to a taste of Pilates, Somatics, and Yoga. This is a perfect camp for young learners who need to establish a strong, technical foundation for all genres of dance. The camp activities will include a lot of moving, investigation, questioning, and experimenting!

In this camp, participants will explore, practice and execute dance genres of Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Tap. In conjunction with the “House of Rock” theme, students will rock out to various styles of music and dance from classic rock to smooth jazz. This dance camp will be a great introduction to both dance and music history as we physically, cognitively, and artistically dig deep into these popping styles of rock. Students will learn how to efficiently count difficult and layering beats, how to incorporate dance dynamics into a certain style, and how to create a plethora of sounds with the body. Students will also be able to recognize music from different generations and they will be able to match associated dance styles with the music. Students will surely leave this camp with gained performance experience and more polished dance technique. This camp will surely be upbeat, vigorous, and rocking!
